and has been used to create the following vessel types:

The Yacht

44' 10" x 15' 4" midship

The Patrol Boat

The "Jet FX", 44' 10" x 15' 4" midship
360 degree turn in it's own radius
(This boat goes 30+ knots)

The Lobster Boat

The "Victory Lane 3", 44' 10" x 19' 2" stern
(This boat had its hull widened to 19' 2" after coming out of the Colindale mould.)

Mould Information and Specifications

Mould originally had a shallow keel used with the pilot boat ("Jet FX") and the Yacht for use with jet propulsion.  A deep 48" keel was created to build the Lobster boats for use with propeller propulsion.  There is a false keel that can be used in the making of the patrol boat and yacht.

Original mould has now had the bow built up 26.5" on sides

15' 4" midship
12' 8" in the stern
8' 6" high stern board
44' 10" long with bow extension
43' without extension
42' length overall (yacht)
15' 6" beam overall
39' length at waterline
56" Draft (depth in water)
48" keel (full keel)
Stern post has 4' space for propeller
Transom height up to 70"
29' working room

Specifications with use of Jet propulsion ("Hamiliton Jet")

EXCELLENT MANOEUVRABILITY

  • Precise steering any speed
  • Hamilton "zero speed" steering - 360 thrusting for docking and holding station
  • Reverse thrust "power braking" ability at speed

HIGH EFFICIENCY

  • Better propulsive and fuel efficiency than the best propellor systems at medium to high planing speeds

LOW DRAG

  • Lack of underwater appendages significantly reduces hull drag
  • 8 - 12% less hull resistance is common

TOTAL SAFETY

  • No exposed propeller allows complete safety around people in the water

SHALLOW DRAUGHT

  • Smooth hull bottom lines afford minimum draught

LOW MAINTENANCE

  • Elinination of protruding propulsion gear means no impact damage or snags
  • Minimum down time for repairs - increased profits
  • Simple maintenance routines

SMOOTH AND QUIET

  • No hull vibration or torque effects give maximum comfort levels
  • Eliminates high speed cavitation
  • Low underwater acoustic signature

MAXIMUM ENGINE LIFE

  • Jet unit impeller is finely matched to the engine
  • Power requirements is independent of boat speed
  • No possibility of engine overload under any conditions

SIMPLICITY

  • Single module replaces rudder, shift, propeller, strut, gland, bearing, etc.
  • No heavy and expensive gearbox required for many installations.
  • A simple direct drive line from the engine tot he jet coupling.
