Welcome to Once Upon A Time!
Summary Jennifer Wolff is a normal girl until she meets Will Hunter, and Adam Battista who live with a terrible secret. Being vampires. Her life quickly changes when she realizes she’s become one of them and must learn their ways to stay alive from Will’s fiancée.Chapter 3 The next morning, I woke up with Jamie in his Saturn honking. He was with Derek in the front passenger's seat. "Hurry up!" It took me about 15 minutes to finally get out of my house. "Hey, how come you get to ride in the front seat?" Jamie put his arm around Derek's neck, "Because he's a lady. Women ride in front." Derek moved away from him and punched him on the shoulder playfully. "Shut up." I quickly signaled him to get out. "You should know better by now." He got out and let me in. He quickly jumped to the back seat. Once on the road it became dangerous with Derek in. He kept moving up, and moving Jamie’s steering wheel to lead him into short cuts. Cars were everywhere honking at us to watch where we were going. His short cuts got us late to school. “I’m never riding with you in the car again.” Jamie made fun of him. I didn’t say anything. I ran to my class, but it didn’t matter because I was already late. “Glad to know you could make it Ms. Wolff. Take a seat.” Just when I sat down, Derek came in after. “Couldn’t wait for me Jen?” He caught his breath. I could tell he went running after me, but wasn’t able to catch up. I didn’t realize Will was sitting next to me. “Morning.” He said. “Hi.” I was surprised he spoke to me. He looked the same as always. Blue eyes, smooth black hair. As soon as the teacher was done with attendance, he began his lessons. We were assigned groups. I partnered up with Will. We started working on a volcano model while the teacher sat in front of the computer browsing through sites. “I hear you got a date.” He whispered. “Yeah, what date is that?” I said sarcastically. I wasn’t paying attention to the project much anymore. Will’s blue eyes kept looking into mine and it distracted me badly. He did have beautiful eyes. “I guess guys have been all over you.” I laughed. “I don’t think so. I don’t do dating.” He put in some red liquid inside the open hole of the volcano. After that, I couldn’t catch my breath. He was reading me. For a moment, there was a long silence, till he finally spoke. “You’re very pretty.” I looked away. I didn’t answer. What am I suppose to say? Thank him? No one has ever said that to me. Then again, I never thought of me being someone pretty. I was just average. Now those girls from magazines were pretty, even beautiful goddesses. But that was all fake. Why wear a mask of make-up if it’s not truly you? I turned to see if Derek and his partner, Kayla were done. Kayla glared at me. Derek wasn’t paying attention. As I sat there quietly, Will finished on his own. He didn’t say anything afterwards. During the rest of the day, I remained silent. I didn’t speak to anyone. I even ignored Jamie. I denied his generous offer to take me home. Instead, I walked. My stomach growled.. I haven’t eaten at lunch. And, Jamie started to worry about it. I would never refuse to eat. As I walked home, I looked through the shop windows of stores. But after 3 blocks, the stores disappeared behind and houses started to appear. It was a long walk home to me. I wasn’t the type to walk or refuse a car ride home. The reason was, I was a slow walker and it took me 30 minutes or more, rather than 5 minutes on car. I was that slow. My legs started to ache, like rubber bands after stretching them. I remembered about the projects we had to do. I stopped at the library which was on my way home, it was still far off from it though. I got on the computer to do research on Antarctic wolves. I didn’t realize the time till everyone started leaving. It was 8:55 at night. I printed out the pages I needed for my project and started to walk home again. This time the roads were dark and I could only hear my stomach growl. The streets were empty. I read through the papers to double check spelling. “Hey!” I started to walk faster. It was an unfamiliar voice. “Come here.” There were 6 men across the street. I didn’t give them my attention. My heart started to pound when they were right behind me. Go away. I couldn’t think of nothing else. I tried putting the papers inside my hand, but something held onto my wrist with a tight grip. “Where are you going?” I tried to pull away but it only made me drop my papers everywhere on the ground. He knocked me backwards only to be pushed back again. I couldn’t see their face to identify all of them. It was too dark to see, and the light of the moon wasn’t helping any. I panicked. “Leave me alone!” They laughed and mocked me. They even tried to hold on to me. “Don’t even think of screaming, no one’s going to hear you.” I ran for it. I couldn’t hear my heartbeat anymore, just the fast pace of my shoes on concrete. “Get her.” I heard a man’s sinister laugh. I didn’t run far. Someone grabbed me and put their hand around me, their free hand covering my mouth. “You can’t run away from us.” I tried screaming but my voice was muffle. I haven’t been this scared in my life. My body started shaking; I almost thought I was going to hyperventilate. I couldn’t move from their grip around me. It was so hard to breath, and my eyes started to burn with tears. I couldn’t tell if I couldn’t catch my breath anymore, or if the man holding me down was trying to choke me. Suddenly I heard tires screech. The lights from the car lit all the men’s faces. They tried to cover their faces from the light. Their grip on me became lose. I got on my knees, my hands on my neck. I began to inhale. “What the hell?” The lights went off. The car stood silent on the road. “Who the fuck are you?” The door opened, and someone came out. Still dark and faceless. He was suddenly gone. No! My mind froze. I’m alone again. My stomach felt like an endless void; empty. It hurt. I couldn’t stop the endless waterfall from my eyes. I couldn’t see anything anymore. All I heard were thuds from bodies, punching, and kicking. “Get up!” I heard. “Get that son of a bitch!” There were more thuds. I heard some of them grunting and trying to get up, then frantic steps running away. “If I catch you and your goons again, I’ll kill you.” The deep voice said boldly. “We’ll get you for this you bastard!” I heard one of them yell. They were gone. No more footsteps, no more fighting. “Who’s there?” my voice squeaked, still frightened. No response, only papers shuffling. I heard the voice take a deep breath. My heart was still racing, and pounding against my chest, ready to blow. “Are you okay?” It was Will. His voice was calm, smooth and warm. I tried speaking but nothing came out. My throat was dry, my face was a mess with sweat and tears. His footsteps became apparent. He kneeled down beside me. “What were you doing so late at night?” I shook my head. “N-Nothing.” I cut out. I closed my eyes, and covered my mouth with my hand to muffle my cry. Will sighed and he grabbed me by my shoulders and lifted me up with ease. “It is alright.” He looked at my arms, noticing bruises. “What did they do to you?” He snapped. I didn’t say anything. I was afraid of moving my hand away and letting my cry echo through the dark. “Did they touch you?” His voice sounded edgy. “No.” I finally managed. He grabbed my hand. It was icy cold it made my body twitch. He quickly apologized when he realized and pulled me inside his car. He closed the door without saying a word. He quickly picked up the papers I had dropped earlier. He stayed standing still, as if hearing for something. He quickly looked around then ran around the car to his front seat. When he got in, he turned on the car. It must have been a new car because it turned on quietly. I didn’t even know if it was really on. “Where do you live?” He drove off fast into the streets turning corners sharply. I didn’t say anything. He looked at my arms again, the bruises still there. “Jen? Where do you live?” I could tell he was getting annoyed by my unresponsive behavior. “I don’t want to go home.” I whispered. “You have to. Your mom and dad will be worried about you.” “I don’t have a dad.” He was quiet for a few seconds and apologized. “Where do you live?” He asked again. I remained silent. He tried to look into my eyes, but I turned my face to the window. “Please Jen, I have to take you home. You’re still shaking.” I didn’t realize it. “If you won’t tell me..I’m going to have to drop you off at your boyfriend’s house.” His voice became sour. “No.” “I know where Jamie lives.” “He’s not my boyfriend!” I snapped. He stopped the car on the opposite side of the street from where Jamie lived. The window was slightly opened, and there was light. But I couldn’t see anyone. “Fine. Where do you want me to take you?” I took in a deep breath trying to calm my nerves and my shaking. “Cant I stay with you?” I didn’t want to sound desperate, but I couldn’t go home looking the way I did. My mom would freak. So would Jamie, and he was worse than my mom would be. Will shook his head. “Why?” “You can’t.” He paused. “I can’t.” “Derek’s then.” “No.” He quickly replied. “Why not?” “I don’t trust him.” “I want to stay with Derek.” “You’ll stay with me.” He finally said. Annoyance shone brightly in his eyes. I could see he didn’t want me to stay with him. But honestly I didn’t care. It didn’t matter. He had rescued me, and I wasn’t about to let him leave just yet. I didn’t know where Will lived, but it must have been far away because I fell asleep in his car. |
