...There was a lonely little girl who didn't have many friends,
so she spent many hours on her front porch, staring into the
garden. It was a wonderful garden full of flowers, bushes,
groundcover and pebbles. It was the home of snails, doodlebugs,
dragonflies, ants, tiny toads, the occasional fairy - and of course,
the ponies.
These were not ordinary ponies, of course, but very small ponies,
only a few inches tall, and they could fly. There names were
Blueberry, Strawberry, Goldberry and Blackberry.
The little girl first met them when she saw the classic film,
"Fantasia". She fell in love with the ponies, and they became
her playmates whom no one else could see. They went with her to
school, to the grocery store, shopping with her mother (flying
ponies just loved racing up and down escalators and playing in
the clothes racks), and sometimes they came to dinner. But at
night, when it was bedtime, the flying ponies went home to the
garden where the Magic Unicorn was waiting for them, to tuck them
into their beds.
It isn't hard to look at these unicorns from "Fantasia" and
see that they were the direct ancestors of My Little Pony.
These are the rascals who inspired my invisible little playmates
when i was a child. From left to right (not counting the pink
one), this is Blueberry, Goldberry, Strawberry and Blackberry.
The little pink one was not part of the family, so I never had
a name for him, but I suppose we can find one. After all, he
was their friend. And yes, one can look at them and see they
are all boys.
Of course, as you've no doubt guessed,
this is only the beginning of the story. That little girl was of
course myself, and one day after I was grown and was a mother myself,
I bumped into a precious little pony named "Blossom" in a toy store,
and I was simply charmed by her. Since my baby was a little boy
and not interested in such things as ponies, I took her home for
myself and thought no more of it until I discovered that there
were also unicorns and pegasi as well. A flood of forgotten
childhood memories came back to me, and I took home a few more
ponies. I thought I was the only grown-up silly enough to want
little girl toys until I encountered a nurse who had a surprisingly
large collection of ponies herself.
So I bought ponies. Lots of ponies. They were all G1 because I
really don't like G2 ponies, and thought that was the end of it.
Then the G3 ponies appeared, and I was love-struck all over
again.
This is a brand new site, so please bear with me while
I round up all my ponies for exhibit, and even take pictures of
the new custom ones I'm learning how to create. The buttons
below won't all work yet, of course, but they will before
much longer--so drop by again whenever you have the chance.
We have some charming pony stories to entertain you, and they
are fun for the whole family to enjoy.
