Maximizing sales and profits, and manage in-stock position of the What's Happening aisle, Bargain Books/ Bazaar, music racks at the cash, and non-book sections. Providing input for improving stock mix and inventory productivity. Helping to identify obsolete and non-productive stock. Knowing the bestselling, new release, and backlist titles, recommending them to customers, and ensuring staff does the same. Promoting and supporting the loyalty program and chapters.indigo.ca, and advising customers of special promotions. Recruiting and hiring top performing employees. Training and developing employees to consistently deliver our customer service commitment and to meet or exceed performance expectations. Identifying and developing a base of promotable employees. Practicing effective shift management. Scheduling Merchandising staff effectively to maximize store productivity and operate within sales per labour hour guidelines. Controlling internal and external shrinkage and protect company assets. Effectively managing performance through regular feedback, performance appraisals and corrective action. Fostering a positive working environment. Supporting and encouraging teamwork within entire store staff and within district stores. Knowing and following all loss prevention procedures. Ensuring store is clean, safe and organized. Resolving all customer complaints in a manner that leaves the customer feeling satisfied and positive towards Indigo. Maintaining an objective perspective, balancing store needs and company directives. Ensuring merchandising and marketing initiatives are rolled out in a timely and effective fashion. Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time. AND YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS : Previous supervisory experience. A love of books and a passion for retail. Excellent information systems understanding and human resource management. Exceptional interpersonal, decision making and organizational skills. Thorough knowledge and understanding of retail operations policies and procedures. Availability to relocate within a 50 km radius of store is required. Some duties require heavy lifting and repetitive bending. May require prolonged standing Experience coordinating and executing accurate and effective visual merchandising Results oriented leader and motivated team player with strong communication skills.
