Kaiba Seto

Kaiba Seto (Seto Kaiba in the dub), a classmate of Yugi's, is also the president of the infinitely successful Kaiba Corporation. His favorite food is froi gras, which is fatty fried meat in sauce (a delicacy). Kaiba's father, who adopted him and his brother, Mokuba, was named Gozaboro. Gozaboro had been a chess champion, and upon donating money to the orphanage that Seto and Mokuba lived, Seto challenged the man to a game of chess. If he won, Gozaboro would have to adopt Seto and Mokuba. Being the ace at games that he was, Seto won. Gozaboro challenged Seto to be prosperous, but when Seto actually met that challenge and surpassed his adoptive father, Gozaboro committed suicide.

Spoiled in nature, Seto has always been focused on the power of his cards. He sent the mafia to several countries to get the three remaining Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards (Yugi's grandfather owned the fourth). He also put Yugi's grandfather through suffering to get to Yugi. After being defeated by him (Yugi), some of his bad nature was removed, and the two have been rivals ever since. This was further backed up by a stone tablet displayed at the Domino Museum of a priest (Seto) facing the pharaoh (Yami Yugi). Kaiba believes none of that (nor does he believe in the magic of Millennium Items). He doesn't like the idea of his future being predetermined, because that inhibits his dreams from coming true. His dream is to build Kaiba Lands everywhere so that unfortunate kids, like he once was, will have a place to play.

Kaiba set up the Battle City tournament when loaned an Egyptian God Card (Obelisk the Tormentor) by Ishizu Ishtar. He was determined to defeat Yugi in that tournament, atop the Duel Tower at Alcatraz/Kaiba Corp Island, as a sign that he has surpassed his father. Even in defeat, he thinks that the battle between himself and Yugi is not finished.

Seto Kaiba's past identity was a high priest of the pharaoh, the owner of the Millennium Rod.
