The Harry Potter fandom, is literally huge. I personally think the fanbase is so big because of the versatility of the world of Harry Potter. There is so much JKR didn't explain and so much room for interpretation. You can literally have a pleasurable reason for someone de ageing or changing their sex. The characters on Harry Potter are almost as amazing as the world they live in. Death Eaters, Wizards, Witch's, Goblins, House elfs, Centaurs. JKR started something so much more than a book on paper, she created something that brings millions or people together. Millions of people read her books and believe.
If your new to the HP fandom, I wouldn't recommend anything that has alot of warnings. There are a complete of sites that alot of the fandom posts their fics to however. Links for beginnings can be found in the "Newbie" section. The most important thing is to remember to have fun. Fandom is a place to get away from RL(real life), please remember that.
