Below are quotes from Volume 14.

Note: These quotes were taken by me. I spent time actually going through the Volumes and picking out good quotes (sad, I know, lol). Please get my permission to use them or I’ll get Kyou to use you as a scratching post. ^^

Hiro (to Rin) *He’s walking alongside her*: Rin…? What’s wrong? You’re so pale, you’re like a ghost. Are you eating right?
Rin *She stops walking*: …..*She looks at Hiro* What do you care? Are you going to worry about me forever? If you’re worried because you happened to see that……forget it. Just go back to your peaceful little life……with your loving……Mommy and Daddy.
Hiro: Are……you……blaming me? The way you talk, Rin….it’s like it’s wrong to be loved by your parents. Like peace is superficial.…..and a bad thing. ……….. *He looks up at her then looks at the ground* I’m sorry. *Rin starts walking away* Rin…you haven’t found it at all, have you? Trying so hard…on your own. Even Shigure……doesn’t know, does he?…..It doesn’t exist, after all……does it? A way to break the curse?

Rin (to Shigure): Gure-nii…do you not care if you stay cursed?
Shigure: Those who care should do something about it. Someone like you, for example. I’ll just reap the benefits. *They had their backs to each other, but now they look at each other* I told you, didn’t I? I’m the worst of the worst.

Rin (thinks): Oh…this sucks. I’m always……having bad dreams. I have to wake up. I have to find it. I have to open my eyes. I’ll find a way. And end this. I’ll end everything.

Rin (thinks) (“They” and “you” etc refers to Rin’s parents): I’ll never forget that feeling, every time I entered my house…that feeling……of praying with all my heart. Of wondering if they were in a good mood……or if they still hated me. I told myself I’d wait until it passes. Like a stone. Like a “thing” without feelings. Until the day, someday……when they’ll……forgive me. You will……forgive me, won’t you? We can go back……to the way things were, can’t we?

Akito (to Rin): You…are not needed. “We don’t need you.”
*Rin cries*
Rin (thinks): But Haru……did……want me.
*Hiro is walking past and sees Akito throw Rin over the balcony*
Rin (thinks): There was someone……who wanted me……even though I had been told……that I was unwanted. I’m happy…what……a happy thing. I……was happy. Thank you. I’m happy. But……that’s enough. That’s enough for me. Haru…this time……you have to be happy, Haru. I’ll release you……from me. From Akito. From everything that binds you. I want to release you….Haru, your……true happiness…see, it’s in……a bigger world. I’ll look for it. I’ll find it. Because it’s okay……for it to end with nothing……left in my hands.

Rin (thinks): What……am I doing? Fainting…falling apart……without even finding the way to break the curse. At this rate……the end will never come.

Hatori (to Shigure) (“She” refers to Rin): You…she came to see you,didn’t she? Isuzu, I mean.
Shigure: …That’s right. For some reason, that girl is desperately……looking for a way to undo our curse……by herself. *Hatori looks shocked*
Hatori: She’s serious?
Shigure: Most likely. And she suspects that I know how to do it. So she comes over from time to time.
Hatori: That’s……absurd.
Shigure: Yes, well…you say it’s absurd……but……is it really? Hatori…can't you hear it?
Hatori: Hear what?
*Shigure smiles at him*
Hatori: What are you doing?
*Kyou arrives home*
Shigure: Oh, Kyou-kun! Welcome home!
Kyou: Why is Hatori here? Is someone sick?
Shigure: No, no. Rin’s just staying here for a bit.
*Hatori remembers what Shigure said then: “Can’t you hear it?” and how he looked as he smiled.* (I’m not sure, but I think Shigure thinks the next line, as he didn’t say it out loud. At the bottom of the page, the words: “The sound of breaking.” can be seen.

Shigure (to Tohru, but Yuki and Kyou are there too): I’m terribly sorry about this. That you had to get mixed up with Rin. Dragging you into family problems…we’ve caused you trouble. (to Yuki and /or Kyou) Hey, what are you doing, eating already?!
Tohru: N-no… I’m not troubled. Not at all…absolutely not! Never…!

Rin (to Tohru): It’s not like……I really have any memories of it……but God and the zodiac spirits made a promise. I’m sure of it. A long…long time, hundreds of years ago. To be together……for eternity. Even if they were reborn several times……they would go to his side, and never leave. They would go to see him. They would always…always……be together. We members of the zodiac……are still bound by that promise. Even with no memories of it. The blood of the spirits remembers.
(Tohru remembers what Kazuma said:) “Connected by blood.” “A bond of blood.”
Rin: A bond……may look like a beautiful thing from the outside……but if those involved see it as a burden, it’s nothing but a shackle. That’s why……it’s a curse.
Tohru: I wonder if it really…doesn’t exist. A way…to break the curse.
Rin: I don’t know if even Akito knows a way. Not like he would tell us if he did, though.

(This is a flashback of what Akito said to Yuki at the summer house.)
Akito (to Yuki): “You’re pathetic, aren’t you……Yuki?” “Watching you try to keep up the façade of optimism……it hurts.” “A lot.” “I know.” “I understand……what you want, what you’re searching for……in Tohru Honda.” “I know……what you’re looking for……in her.”

Yuki (to Kakeru) (“her” refers to Tohru): ….I……haven’t told this to anyone before. I haven’t even told the person involved……It’s something……pitiful and pathetic. (thinks) I……was looking for a “Mother”……in her.
