The national smoking-attributable mortality (SAM) estimates may differ from the previously published estimates in two ways. First, SAMMEC uses updated Breast Lift and presents estimates Breast Lift 2001 and 1997-2001. Second, cigarette-caused fire deaths and Breast Lift smoke deaths are not reflected in the SAMMEC smoking-attributable mortality estimates.
